Newsletter: Stress Relief & Mindfulness

Woman practicing mindfulness and deep breathing by the ocean.

Wellness Win: Two minutes can change your day!

Research shows that even two minutes of slow, deep breathing can lower blood pressure, lower cortisol levels, reduce muscle spasm and calm the nervous system. It’s a small habit with big benefits — perfect for busy days or restless nights.

Why Mindfulness Matters at Any Age

Chronic stress affects sleep, digestion, heart health, the body’s inflammatory state and memory! Mindfulness — paying gentle attention to the present moment — helps reduce the body’s stress response, improving both mental clarity and physical well-being.

Simple, Evidence-Based Habits to Try This Week

  • Morning Pause: Before getting out of bed, take 5 slow breaths, noticing the rise and fall of your chest.
  • Mindful Moments: While sipping tea or coffee, focus on the warmth, aroma, and taste—no phone, no TV.
  • Evening Reset: Spend 2–3 minutes in a comfortable chair, eyes closed, breathing in for a count of 4, out for a count of 6.
